Terms of service
Last updated: 9 October 2026
These terms govern access to the okapiai.ai website and use of the Okapi AI service, published by [legal name], [address], Democratic Republic of Congo. By using the service, you accept them. The French version prevails in case of discrepancy.
1. The service
Okapi AI is an assistant that answers questions on Congolese business law from a corpus of official texts (Mining Code, tax and customs texts, Labour Code, OHADA Uniform Acts, Official Journal) and cites its sources.
The service is in pre-launch: its features may change, be limited or be interrupted.
2. Not legal advice
Okapi AI's answers are general legal information. They are not legal advice, do not create a lawyer-client relationship and do not replace consulting a lawyer or qualified professional who knows your situation.
Only official publications (in particular the DRC Official Journal) are authoritative. Always check the cited texts before making a decision.
3. Limits of artificial intelligence
Answers are generated automatically. Despite our checks, they may be incomplete, inaccurate or not reflect the latest amendments. When the available texts cannot answer a question, Okapi AI should say so; please report any incorrect answer to us.
4. Account
You must provide accurate information, keep your credentials safe and tell us about any unauthorised use. You are responsible for activity on your account. The service is for adults acting in a professional capacity.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- use the service for unlawful or fraudulent purposes;
- extract or copy content or answers at scale (scraping, automated queries);
- try to bypass security measures or usage limits, or reverse-engineer the service;
- upload content you do not have the rights to, or that contains malware;
- present Okapi AI's answers as legal advice given by Okapi AI.
6. Your content
You keep ownership of the questions and documents you submit. You grant us the right to process them only as needed to provide, secure and improve the service, as described in our privacy policy.
7. Intellectual property
Official laws and regulations remain freely accessible. The Okapi AI platform, its software, brand and logo, and the selection, organisation and enrichment of the corpus are protected and belong to Okapi AI or its partners.
8. Paid plans
Pricing and billing terms for paid plans will be set out at subscription. Joining the waitlist is free and creates no obligation to buy.
9. Availability
We work to keep the service available and reliable but cannot guarantee uninterrupted operation. Maintenance may cause interruptions.
10. Liability
To the extent permitted by law, Okapi AI is not liable for decisions made solely on the basis of the service's answers, nor for indirect damages. [Liability cap to be defined with legal counsel.]
11. Suspension and termination
You may stop using the service and ask us to delete your account at any time. We may suspend or close an account that breaches these terms, after notice except in urgent cases.
12. Personal data
How we process your data is described in our privacy policy.
13. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the law of the Democratic Republic of Congo. Failing an amicable solution, any dispute falls under the competent courts of [Kinshasa/Gombe].
14. Changes and contact
We may change these terms; the new version applies from publication, and you will be told about significant changes. Contact: [email protected].
